Sterling Silver Spoon

This workshop is where you can make your very own Small Silver Spoon in a 4 hour class. Using various techniques and materials (practice spoon in brass) you will learn how to saw pierce and shape metal, use hand files, learn to sand and then polish your pieces to a beautiful shine. You will learn how to use a LPG torch to solder, you will use a Jewellers saw and scribe to mark out and cut your metal. You will also use hand tools such as pliers, hand files and precision hammers to shape your spoon, forming in timber hollows so as not to marr your metal whilst shaping. You can make your handle using hammered and forged silver wire or use found materials like Timber and Bone.

These beautiful handmade spoons were made by Artist Helena Emmans, we will make a smaller spoon, Helena’s pieces are purely an example of interesting and different design. (image curtesy of the Artist via Pinterest)
